Tahiti is a French overseas collectivity located in the South Pacific Ocean 4.400 km / 2.734 miles south of Hawaii and 5,700 km / 3,542 miles east of Australia. After having hit a 22 year-low in 2015 at 3.920 units, Tahiti’s new car market has rebounded spectacularly with sales up 15.4% in 2016 to 4.526 and further 40% to 6.340 in 2017. Peugeot remains the most popular carmaker on the archipelago with 747 sales and 11.8% share, followed by Kia which managed to outsell sister-brands Hyundai (#4) for the first time with Toyota sandwiched in-between at #3.
