Monaco Full Year 2018: Porsche 911 new best-seller, overtakes Smart Fortwo

The perfect fit: the Porsche 911 is the best-selling vehicle in Monaco in 2018.

Consult 8 years of Monaco Historical Data here.

After the Top 53 All-brands, we can now share with you an exclusive Top 265 All-models ranking for Monaco. You won’t find this data anywhere else. Fitting to the playground of the rich and famous, this year the best-selling vehicle in Monaco is a… Porsche! The 911 surfs on the end of life of the 991 model ahead of the January 2019 introduction of the 992 generation to take the lead of the Monaco models ranking with just under 5% market share, overtaking the leader of the past few years, the Smart Fortwo (+6.3%), for just 3 units. The Audi A3 (+103.9%) surges 7 spots to round up the podium, distancing a slew of luxury SUVs: the Mercedes GLC (+64.3%), Porsche Cayenne (+77.8%), Audi Q5 (+436.5%) and Porsche Macan (-50.4%) with the Range Rover Sport (-5.2%) maintaining its place in the Top 10.

The Smart Fortwo loses the top spot for just 3 sales.

Monaco is such a unique market that almost every luxury car sets a record here: it is the only country in the world to have a Porsche as #1, to have 3 Porsches in the Top 7 and a Range Rover in the Top 10. And that’s just the start… Below the Smart Fortwo, the Toyota Yaris (#11), Fiat 500 (#14) and Toyota C-HR (#17) are the only “mundane” vehicles in a Top 20 that also includes the Range Rover Velar and Abarth 595. The Mercedes S-Class is up 3 spots on 2017 to #23, Bentley Continental is down 16 to #8 but the Bentley Bentayga is up 19 to #25, the Range Rover down 6 to #28 and the Porsche Panamera up 17 to #30.

The Range Rover Sport remains inside the Monaco Top 10.

The most popular new launch is the VW T-Roc at #26 followed by the Jaguar E-Pace at #31, Ferrari 812 Superfast at #41 and Ferrari Portofino at #62. The best-selling Ferrarim the GTC4Lusso, sells more in Monaco than any Renault model and all Peugeot vehicles bar the 308. Indeed, even though Monaco is nestled within France there are no dealerships selling French brands in the principality: all French models registered in Monaco have to be purchased in France. This “inconvenience” means French cars are particularly rare in the Monaco charts, with only the Peugeot 308 (#32) managing a spot in the Top 50, followed by the Peugeot 3008 (#52), 208 (#55), Dacia Sandero (#64), Renault Megane (#78) and Zoe (#80). Best-seller in France, the Renault Clio (-63.2%) is down to a paltry 84th spot in Monaco.
