The Renault Kwid ranks #4 in Colombia.
Thanks to a very robust month of May up 8.3% to 22.298 units, new car sales in Colombia are back into positive territory year-to-date at +1.6% to 96.721. Now that Renault (+18.8%) has wrestled the #1 brands YTD title off Chevrolet (-6.9%), it is not letting go, posting the largest gain in the Top 5 and selling 865 units more than its rival this month to lift its YTD advantage to 2.257 and 2.3 percentage points of share at 20.4% (+6%) vs. 18.1% (-13.3%). Volvo (+834.1%) is the other hero of the month, up 18 spots on April to storm into the Top 10, with BMW (+69.5%), Mercedes (+43.8%), Honda (+30.9%), Toyota (+31%), Mazda (+13.3%), Kia (+12%) and Jeep (+10.7%) also make themselves noticed.
The Renault Sandero (-12.7%) remains by far the most popular model in the country but seems to be a little hurt by the new Kwid down two spots on last month to #4. The Chevrolet Beat (+147.8%) and Spark (-31.8%) rally back up to complete the podium. Renault places 4 nameplates in the Top 6 with the Logan (+1.6%) at #5 and the Duster (-7.2%) at #6. The Mazda2 (+62.2%), Nissan Frontier (+24%) and Mazda CX-5 (+18.9%) also shine.
