The Dacia Duster reaches its highest share yet for this generation at home.
The Romanian new car market soars 13.9% in April to 8.691, meaning the year-to-date tally is now up 22.8% to 44.527. Homegrown brand leader Dacia (+26.5%) doubles the market growth in pole position but Renault (+40.7%) does even better in 2nd place just as the remainder of the Top 5 is in negative: Ford (-18.6%), Skoda (-12.7%) and Volkswagen (-5.6%). Nissan (+185%), Hyundai (+31.3%) and Opel (+21.9%) all outpace the market in the Top 10 also. Citroen (+170%), Seat (+114.9%) and Peugeot (+60%) stand out further down. Model-wise, the Dacia Logan (+0.6%) stays on top but the Duster (+97.7%) is up to 8.9% share, its highest for this generation and since March 2015 (9%). The Renault Clio (+218.5%) and Nissan Qashqai (+268.1%) dislodge the Dacia Sandero (+2.1%) from its traditional third place, while the Suzuki Vitara (+20.4%) and Opel Astra (+41.1%) post the only other two double-digit gains of the Top 10. The Audi Q8 (#79) is the best-selling new launch while the VW T-Cross lands directly at #94.
