Croatia March 2019: Dacia (+57.1%), VW (+15.3%) defy market down 19.9%

The VW Golf is back up 51.8% year-on-year in Croatia in March.

No sign of improvement for new car sales in Croatia, freefalling down -19.9% year-on-year in March to 5.041 registrations, pulling the year-to-date tally down -12.3% to 12.139. Quite strikingly, the entire Top 5 best-selling brands markedly outpace the market this month: Volkswagen (+15.3%) brilliantly remains on top with 15% share, distancing Renault (-2.9%), Skoda (+1.2%) and Suzuki (+5.9%) while Dacia soars a mammoth 57.1% in 5th place. However the story is very different for the remainder of the Top 13 as Opel (-73.1%), Ford (-48.5%), Peugeot (-43.4%), Toyota (-30.9%), Hyundai (-25.7%) and Citroen (-25.3%) all get hit full frontal. Further down, Jeep (+866.7%), Infiniti (+550%), Land Rover (+216.7%), Porsche (+175%), Volvo (+130.4%), Fiat (+20.6%) and Mazda (+18.8%) impress. Model-wise, the Skoda Octavia (+18.3%) remains on top ahead of a surging Renault Captur (+106.9%) and a recovering VW Golf (+51.8%) up 11 spots on February. The Dacia Duster (+145.7%), Dacia Sandero (+78.3%) and VW T-Roc (+60.4%) also shine in the Top 20 which the Renault Scenic breaks for the first time since we started following Croatia monthly in 2012 at #16.
