New car sales in the Netherlands continue to drop painfully at -15.4% to 29.947 in February, with the year-to-date tally now down 18% to 77.236 units. Volkswagen (+38.8%) blissfully ignores the surrounding gloom, and is one of only four Top 20 carmakers to post a positive score alongside Mercedes (+21.7%), Mini (+46.4%) and Tesla (+109.9%). Below, Honda (+46.3%), Jeep (+8.5%) and Mitsubishi (+4.1%) are the only other carmakers progression. Model-wise, the Ford Focus (+70.1%) surges to monthly pole position for the first time during this decade, with the Kia Picanto (-18.1%) in 2nd place.
Bolstering the brand’s gigantic progress, the VW T-Roc (+354.9%) climbs onto a terrific podium ranking at #3 while the VW Tiguan (+239.4%) is up 32 spots on last month to #7. The Kia Niro (+38.3%), Peugeot 3008 (+32.5%) and VW Golf (+16.4%) also shine in the Top 10. But we have some big news at #15: the arrival of the Tesla Model 3 with 1% share. Below, the Skoda Karoq (+500%), Volvo XC40 (+264.6%), Toyota RAV4 (+230.6%), Hyundai Kona (+122.8%), BMW i3 (+119.5%), Mitsubishi Outlander (+107.9%), Nissan Leaf (+107.3%), Mazda CX-3 (+89.7%), Mercedes C-Class (+71.3%), Opel Grandland X (+58.5%) and Mini (+53.6%) all post fantastic scores.
