New car sales in Jordan dive by a ghastly 40.4% year-on-year over the first 10 months of 2018 to just 23.855 registrations, down 39.2% when comparing apples with apples and removing Audi, BMW, Porsche and Volkswagen from 2017 figures as these manufacturers have failed to report sales for 2018. Toyota (-25%) resists much better than the market to overtake both Hyundai (-50%) and Kia (-50%) to snap the brands pole position with 25.5% share. Nissan (+14%) is the only Top 13 manufacturer to manage a year-on-year gain to climb onto the last step of the podium at 7.8% share, distancing Mitsubishi (-60%), Isuzu (-18%), Lexus (-48%) and Land Rover (-27%). Honda (-3%), Ford (-6%), Suzuki (-18%) also resist well but it’s Renault (+52%) that impresses the most among large carmakers, with Volvo (+63%), Jeep (+43%) and Citroen (+12%) among the other great performers. Model-wise, the Toyota Land Cruiser (-32%) snaps the lead away from the Kia Frontier (-56%) while the Hyundai Tucson (+15%) and Toyota Hilux (+106%) manage to gain ground year-on-year to lift up 4 and 11 spots respectively to #3 and #4, distancing the Hyundai Elantra (-61%) and Sonata (-63%) both in freefall. Notice also the Nissan Patrol (+50%) and Isuzu TF (+17%) climbing up the ranking as well. The Ford Ecosport (#74) and Suzuki Baleno (#76) are the best-selling recent launches for the year (<12 months).
