The Turkish new light vehicle market is down 2.8% in 2017 to 956.194 but remains at very high levels, the third highest annual volume in history below those reached in 2016 (983.720) and 2015 (968.017). Renault is up 7% to 13.6% share, reclaiming the #1 brands ranking it last held in 2012, while Fiat does even better at +13% to 12.6% of the market, up two spots to #2 overall. Leader for the past four consecutive years, Volkswagen drops a harsh 13% to #3 and 12.3% share, with Ford (+1%) down one rank to 11.6% and rounding up the Top 4. Hyundai (+1%) and Dacia (+2%) both overtake Toyota (-14%) and Opel (-19%) while Peugeot (+14%) delivers the largest year-on-year gain in the Top 10. Below, Bentley (+78%), Lexus (+58%) and Honda (+29%) shine whereas Kia (-21%), Isuzu (-22%), Seat (-22%), BMW (-28%), Jaguar (-30%), Smart (-45%), Alfa Romeo (-50%) and DS (70%) are all in great difficulty.
The new Sedan variant propels the Renault Megane up 175% to #2 overall.
In the models ranking, the locally-produced Fiat Egea repeats its 2016 win thanks to deliveries up 25% to a round 5% market share. The Renault Megane is the most impressive nameplate this year however, up 175% due to the success of the sedan version that replaces the discontinued Fluence and accounts for 90% of the nameplate’s sales in Turkey this year. The Renault Clio (+20%) is up two spots to make it two Renaults on the Turkish podium, while the Ford Courier drops two to #4. The VW Passat (+4%), Ford Transit (+2%) and Fiat Fiorino (+19%) all step up, overtaking a plunging Opel Astra (-16%). Notice also the Honda Civic (+63%), Peugeot 301 (+34%), Partner (+27%), 3008 (+167%), Toyota C-HR (+265%) and Ford Kuga (+442%) all posting spectacular gains. The Skoda Kodiaq is the best-selling newcomer but only manages a weak #91 ranking.
