New vehicle sales in Ivory Coast (Cote d’Ivoire) are up a solid 9.3% year-on-year in 2017 to 9.796 registrations. Toyota is still the favourite manufacturer here despite registrations skidding 5% to 16.5% share vs. 19% a year ago. The Japanese carmaker distances Renault up 12% to 11.9% and Mitsubishi up 7% to 9.2%, both overtaking Hyundai down 27% to 8.2%. Nissan (+63%) and Suzuki (+194%) show spectacular growth and rank 5th and 6th respectively while Chinese Great Wall breaks into the Top 10 to #9 and 3.7% share thanks to deliveries up 41% on 2016. As a whole, Chinese carmakers gain almost two percentage points of market share to 9.8% as sales grow 24% with Sinotruk (#15), Foton (#17), Zhongtong (#24), King Long (#25), Shacman (#28) and ZX Auto (#29) the next best-sellers.

The Nissan NP300 Hardbody shows no sign of ageing: +64% to #4 in 2017.

Model-wise, the entire Top 10 is composed of either pickups or SUVs. Like in 2016, the Toyota Hilux (+1%) is the best-selling nameplate in the country but is followed this time by the Mitsubishi L200 (+43%) knocking the Renault Duster (-5%) down to #3. The Nissan NP300 Hardbody soars 64% and five spots to #4 with the Mazda BT-50 (-18%) making it four pickups in the Top 5. The Nissan Qashqai (+59%), Kia Sportage (+73%) and Suzuki Vitara (+384%) all storm into the Top 10 with spectacular year-on-year gains while the Great Wall Wingle (+23%) and Ford Ranger (+6%) round up the Top 10 and make it 6 pickups at that level. The Toyota Yaris (#12), Renault Logan (#17) and Peugeot 301 (#19) are the only passenger cars in the Top 20 for 2017.
