The Toyota Hilux is the best-selling vehicle in South Africa in November.

The South African market is up 7.2% year-on-year in November to 49.754 units, leading to a year-to-date volume up 2.2% to 516.954. Passenger cars gain 16.4% year-on-year to 32.821 sales, 19.8% of which are rental sales, while light commercials struggle at -7.4% to 14.587. Toyota remains the most popular carmaker in the country with sales up 13% to 23% share, distancing the Volkswagen Group up 20% to 14.9% and Ford up 0.2% to 14.6%. Hyundai-Kia (+11%) and Nissan (+3%) round up the Top 5 with Mazda (+29%), Peugeot-Citroen (+37%), Jaguar Land Rover (+40%), Volvo (+48%), Fiat (+58%) and Suzuki (+108%) among the best performers.
In the models ranking, the Toyota Hilux (+30%) is back in charge after losing the top spot to the VW Polo Vivo in October and cements its year-to-date leadership. It is followed this month by the Ford Ranger remaining at #2 despite a 17% drop, while the VW Polo Vivo, VW Polo and Toyota Corolla round up the Top 5 in the same order as YTD. The Toyota Etios shoots up 53% to #6, the Ford Ecosport is up 46% to #9, the Kia Picanto up 95% to #13, Hyundai i20 up 40% to #14, Renault Kwid up 46% to #15, Toyota RAV4 up 62% to #16, VW Golf up 190% to #17 and Ford Everest up 86% to #18. The Hyundai Creta (#30) dominates recent launches, well above the Opel Mokka X (#61) and Suzuki Ignis (#68).
