New car sales in Latvia are up a splendid 25.8% year-on-year to 1.469 in August, leading to a year-to-date tally up 3.3% to 11.491 units. The Latvian models ranking is reshuffled this month: the Kia Sportage takes the lead with 5% share and climbs up one spot in the year-to-date ranking to #2 thanks to sales up 49%. The Skoda Octavia leaps up to #2 with 4% share but remains #4 year-to-date, the Kia Cee’d lands on the third step of the podium, earning a spot in the YTD Top 10 at #8 while the YTD leader, the Nissan Qashqai, ranks at a weak fifth place in August below the VW Passat. Yet the Qashqai’s advantage over the Sportage after 8 months remains robust at 156 sales or 1.4 percentage point. Notice also the return of the Toyota C-HR in the Latvian YTD Top 10 at #10 with a round 2% share.
