The Kuga (+36%), Explorer (+46%) and Focus (+21%) help Ford regain foot in Russia this year.

We now have access to All-models data for Russia over the First Half of 2017. As usual the best-selling light commercials slot into the ranking, with the GAZ Gazelle (+1%) remaining at #6 and the UAZ Bukhanka (+11%) down two spots to #24. Outside the well-known Top 25, a few nameplates impress with significant gains: the Mitsubishi Outlander is up 36% to #30, the Ford Focus up 21% to #33, the Ford Kuga up 36% to #34, the Kia Optima up 103% to #37, Mercedes E-Class up 35% to #47 and Kia Cerato up 46% to #48. Further down, the Toyota Corolla (+123%), Nissan Murano (+117%) and Ford Explorer (+46%) also make themselves noticed.

Russia is one market Chinese manufacturers are working hard at trying to crack, with numerous launches and facelifts happening over the period. The Lifan X60 (+6%), which has just benefited from a facelift, remains the most popular and the only Chinese fare to crack the Russian Top 50 at #45. Its smaller stablemate the X50 is in difficulty at -26% to #70 whereas the Lifan Solano is enjoying the benefits of its relaunch as the Solano II with sales up 3-fold to #78. Lifan is the only Chinese carmaker placing nameplates in the Russian Top 100 this year. The Changan CS35 (+163%) is very dynamic at #110, ahead of the Chery Tiggo 5 (+54%), Geely Emgrand X7 (-6%) and the newly launched Haval H6. Also new for 2017 are the Chery Tggo 2 (#151), FAW Besturn X80 (#193), Haval H2 (#195), Haval H9 (#208), Foton Sauvana (#221), Haval H8 (#236), Geely Emgrand GT (#240) and FAW Junpai D60 (#283).
