The Toyota Corolla comfortably remains the best-selling nameplate in Taiwan this year.

The Taiwanese new car market is up 4.5% year-on-year in 2016 to 439.629 units, with Toyota still master in command, following the market at +4% and holding onto its commanding 28.3% share. Mitsubishi/CMC overtakes Nissan/Infiniti to take the 2nd spot overall thanks to deliveries up 10% to 46.398 vs. 44.723 (+3%). Honda remains 4th but drops 1% while Mercedes (+16%), Mazda (+11%) and BMW (-2%) all bypass Ford, struggling at -20%. Homegrown carmaker Luxgen soars 23% to 16.420 sales thanks to the launch of the compact sedan S3, and Hyundai surges 46% thanks to the arrival of the new Tucson.
The CMC Veryca is up 27% to 4th place this year.
No surprises atop the models sales charts: the Toyota Corolla reigns supreme at 9.9% share (+3%), and the podium is unchanged on 2015, once again 100% Toyota with the RAV4 at #2 (+19%) and the Yaris at #3 (-2%). Excellent performance of the CMC Veryca up 27% and 3 spots to 4th overall, distancing the Toyota Wish (-4%) and Nissan Tiida (-3%) while the Mazda 3 is up 7%to #7. The Nissan X-Trail (+24%) breaks into the Top 10, the Mitsubishi Delica is up 16% to #11, the CMC Zinger up 36% to #16, the Mercedes C-Class up 13% to #1 and the Lexus RX up 107% to #23. There are no less than 6 all-new nameplates in the 2016 Top 50, led by the the Hyundai Tucson (#29) ahead of the Mazda CX-3 (#33), Luxgen S3 (#35), Honda HR-V (#39), Toyota Sienta (#40 but #3 in December!) and Mercedes GLC (#46).
