After four consecutive months of year-on-year declines, the Canadian light vehicle market is injected back to positive territory by generous end-of-year incentives particularly in the pickup aisle. November sales are up 10% to 160.573 units, lifting the year-to-date tally to a record-breaking 1.823.295 deliveries with only one month to go in 2016. General Motors post a particularly strong (and incentive-filled) month at +31% year-on-year to take the lead of the Groups ranking with 28.523 sales, distancing Ford Motor at 24.450 (+18%) and FCA at 20.674 (-2%). Nissan Motor (+13%), Daimler (+18%) and Jaguar-Land Rover (+32%) also impress.

In fact, overall pickup sales are up 31% year-on-year this month to account for 20.4% market share, the highest so far this year. General Motors pickup sales are up 36% to 11.620, passing Ford pickups for the first time in years and explaining GM’s domination of the Canadian market this month as pickups account for 41% of GM Canada November sales. The GMC Canyon (+343%) and Chevrolet Colorado (+209%) hold 57% of the midsize pickup market and both outsell traditional market leader the Toyota Tacoma. The Chevrolet Silverado (+14%) and Toyota Tundra (+35%) also perform well.
