Up 10% year-on-year to 19.946, September 2016 is the highest-ever sales result for the month in the Czech Republic, the 8th time the monthly record is beaten so far this year – only July fell short. Year-to-date, sales add up to 192.714, up 13% on the same period in 2015. If the Czech market suddenly stopped and zero cars were sold until the end of 2016, this would still be the 2nd highest annual volume in history, just above the 192.314 units registered in 2014 and only trailing the 230.857 record from last year. Keep in mind roughly 16% of all new car sales in the Czech Republiuc are immediately re-exported towards other European nations – sales data bar re-exports are indicated in the “REAL” columns on both brands and models ranking below the jump.
…ahead of the Skoda Fabia.
Homegrown Skoda easily retains the pole position with 31.5% share above Volkswagen (11.1%) and Hyundai (8.2%), however when removing re-exports Hyundai takes the 2nd spot with 1.610 sales vs. 1.259 for VW. Ford is back to the 4th spot it holds year-to-date with a strong 7% share – but slips outside the Top 10 without re-exports – ahead of Dacia, Opel, Kia and Renault. Nissan makes a rare incursion inside the Top 10 at #9 and Mercedes holds strong at #10. The best performers year-to-date are Honda (+50%), Suzuki (+49%), Lexus (+47%), Audi (+ 32%), Toyota (+28%), Renault (+26%), Mazda (+23%), Dacia (+21%) and Kia (+21%). In the models ranking, the Skoda Octavia (10.1%), Fabia (8%), Rapid (5%) and Superb (4.6%) dominate ahead of the Ford Fiesta, Hyundai i30 and VW Golf. The Skoda Yeti, VW Polo and Passat make it 8 Volkswagen Group models in the Top 10, while beyond the Opel Astra (#12), Nissan Qashqai (#13), VW Tiguan (#20) and Toyota Corolla (#44) shine.
