The Taiwanese new car market is up 4% year-on-year in June to 42.751 registrations, lifting the year-to-date total up 3% to 222.209 units. Perennial leader Toyota is more dominant than ever at 30.5% share thanks to 13.035 sales (+3%) almost three times as much as the next most popular carmaker, Mitsubishi/CMC at 10.4% (+1%). Nissan is down 1% in third place while Mercedes surges up 44% to land in 4th position overall with 2.612 sales and Mazda is up 29$ to #5 and 2.380. Honda (-16%), Ford (-20%) and BMW (-29%) struggle but home-grown Luxgen shines with sales up 24% to 1.850 thanks to the gearing up of the small S3 sedan going from #90 in May to #21 this month. The Toyota Corolla remains the best-selling nameplate in the country with 9.4% share, followed by the RAV4, Wish, Yaris and CMC Veryca as per the year-to-date order.
