The Proton Saga jumps to 2nd place with 10.6% share.

After a particularly strong December score edged annual sales onto a 4th consecutive record year, January sales a definitely deflated at -12% to just 44.591 registrations. Perodua is non-sed and improves its market share further to 34.8% thanks to sales down just 3% to 15.538, but Proton (-13%) and Honda (-12%) follow the market while Nissan (-22%) and Toyota (-27%) lose significant share. Mazda gains 55% and Mercedes surges 139%, with other manufacturers in positive including Isuzu (+9%), BMW (+23%), Hino (+6%), Subaru (+28%) and Audi (+9%).
The Proton Iriz is up to #7.
In the models ranking, the Perodua Axia easily holds onto the top spot thanks to 7.060 sales and 15.8%, it is followed this month by the Proton Saga at 10.7%, the Perodua Alza at 9.8% and the Perodua Myvi a 9.2%. The Honda HR-V brilliantly snaps the #1 foreign ranking at #5 overall with 2.511 sales and 5.6% share, ahead of the Honda City. Notice also the Proton Iriz up to #7, the Ford Ranger up to #11, Mitsubishi Triton up to #13 vs. #21 in 2015, Nissan X-Trail up to #18 vs. #38 and the Mazda2 up to #23 vs. #47.
