After losing 5% in June last year, the Saudi new car market is back up a splendid 19% year-on-year this month to 71,609 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 408,073 units, up 12% on 2013. Below the Toyota Hilux untouchable in pole position with 6,380 sales and 8.9% share (8.8% year-to-date), the Toyota Corolla steps up to 2nd place thanks to the new generation and 4,945 units for a strong 6.9% market share vs. #4 and 5.8% year-to-date… As a result the Hyundai Elantra (#2 year-to-date) is knocked out to third place in June at 3,828 sales and 5.3% vs. 5.9% year-t0-date. The Toyota Yaris, also boosted by a new generation now on sale in the region, holds very well at #4 and 4.5%, overtaking the Hyundai Accent.
Other great performers this month in Saudi Arabia include the Kia Cerato up to #11 vs. #16 year-to-date, the Hyundai Santa Fe up to #17 vs. #23, Ford Taurus up to #19 vs. #25, Chevrolet Impala up to #22 vs. #37, Ford Explorer up to #25 vs. #39, Renault Duster up to #32 vs. #47, Nissan Altima up to #33 vs. #53, Ford Ranger up to #58 vs. #95, Honda City up to #82 vs. #129 and the Toyota Avanza landing at #99 for its first month of sales in the country at 71 units.
