According to Automotive News, Mercedes set a new worldwide monthly sales record in March, up 13% year-on-year to 158,523 registrations. First quarter sales also reached an all-time high 374,276 units, up 15% on 2013. Mercedes said this record was driven by high demand for the E-Class model and the fast growing compact range: the A Class, B Class and GLA Class which launched mid-March helped Mercedes lift sales in the compact segment by 27% last month. Mercedes gained ground in all its major markets in March, with the US up 11% to 27,401 deliveries, Germany up 1% to 25,544, China up 34% to 24,936 and the UK up 19% to 22,369 units. In Europe as a whole the brand progressed by 8% to 76,587 sales or 48% of its worldwide total.
