Vietnamese monthly car sales data is back on BSCB after a 3 month-hiatus: VAMA now only publishes data by batches every second or third month which makes it difficult to ensure a monthly coverage unfortunately. The Vietnamese market is up a very healthy 9% year-on-year in August to 7,082 registrations, which brings the year-to-date total up an even more impressive 18% on 2012 to 57,602 units. The Toyota Fortuner, leader over the Full Year 2012 and so far in 2013, is faithful to its good form with an excellent 9% market share in August thanks to 639 sales, above its year-to-date level of 8.5%.
The Toyota Innova is also very solid this month at #2 and 7.2% share vs. #4 and 5.7% year-to-date while the Toyota Vios only owes its third place in August to the weak performances of the Toyota Camry (#4) and Corolla (#6). The other great performers in Vietnam this month are the Kia Picanto up to #4 and 5% and the Honda CR-V up to a fantastic 7th place at 3.7% share vs. 2.1% year-to-date. Notice also the Honda City, newly available in the country, at #11 and the Mazda CX-5 up to #14.
