The Croatian new car market looks like it is on the mend: after dropping by a horrendous 46% over the first quarter of the year, but by just 1% in May, it is down 5% year-on-year in June to 3,190 registrations, making it only the 2nd time in the last 12 months the market is above 3,000 monthly sales. The year-to-date tally now stands at 15,384 units, down 24% on 2012, which was already down 11% on 2011… For the first time since May 2011 and only the second time in the last 9 years, the Opel Corsa is the most popular vehicle in Croatia thanks to 208 sales and 6.5% share, it however remains #4 year-to-date at 588 units and 3.8%. The Hyundai i30 is up 3 spots on May to a brilliant 2nd place with 151 sales and 4.7%, its best ranking in the country since it took the lead of the sales charts in April 2012.
The VW Passat is up a massive 13 ranks on last month to land on the third step of the podium thanks to 139 units and 4.4%, it is followed by the Opel Astra (now #2 year-to-date), the VW Golf (still in the lead year-to-date) and the Peugeot 208. The Hyundai ix35 is up one further spot to #7 with 97 sales and 3%, this could well be its best-ever ranking in Croatia… It is now #9 year-to-date vs. #20 in 2012. Notice also the Ford Focus up to #10, Fiat Linea up to #13 thanks to the new model, Dacia Sandero up to #15 and the BMW3 Series up to #17.
