Very solid month for Taiwanese new car sales: at 30,617 registrations the market is down just 2% on May 2012 which was 28% ahead of May 2011. Year-to-date, the total now stands at 149,748 units, down 4% on 2012. It’s a pretty uneventful top of the sales charts with the podium identical to the 2013 year-to-date ranking: the Toyota Corolla is very strong at 11.1% share in spite of the imminent arrival of the new model, the Toyota Wish ranks #2 at 4.7% followed by the Nissan Tiida at 4.5%. The Nissan Livina is down one spot to #4 and the Toyota RAV4 down 3 to #5. Notice the excellent hold of the Ford Focus at #10 and the exceptional month of the Porsche Cayenne knocking at the Taiwanese Top 30’s door at #31 with 237 sales and 0.8% share.
