23,255 new cars were sold in Switzerland in February, bringing the year-to-date total to 46,641. No surprises on the podium, identical this month to the Full Year 2011 ranking: the VW Golf rules with 864 sales and 3.7% share, followed by the Skoda Octavia at 730 units and 3.1% and the VW Polo with 602 sales and 2.6%. But the big event this month is the 5 models Volkswagen places in the Top 6 or the fact that the Volkswagen Group monopolises the entire Top 7!
The VW Passat is up to #4 at 528 units and 2.3%, ahead of the VW Touran up 6 spots on January to #5 with 408 sales and 1.7% and the VW Tiguan still in great shape at #6 and 406 units! An exceptional performance for Volkswagen, one that it could hardly manage even in its native Germany. But wait there’s more: also part of VAG, the Skoda Fabia ranks 7th with 391 sales and 1.7%, the Seat Ibiza is up 14 ranks to #9 at 343 units and 1.5% and the Audi A3 is #11 with 337 sales and 1.4%… That’s 9 VAG models in the Top 11.
This month no less than 4 models break into the Swiss monthly Top 50 for the first time: the Audi Q3 is up 23 spots to #32 at 203 units and 0.9%, the Subaru XV is up a huge 159 ranks to #36 as early as for its second month in the ranking with 190 sales and 0.8% while the VW Up! does even better, going from #279 with 4 units sold in January to #38 with 175 sales this month, and the Range Rover Evoque is in by only 2 spots, up 20 ranks to #48
