Solid month for car sales in Austria, up 5% in August at 25,884 units and 9% year-to-date at 242,784. VW unsurprisingly places the Golf #1 and the Polo #2 as per the 2011 year-to-date ranking. But the event this month is the 2nd place of Hyundai in the brands ranking, up 42% year-on-year at 2,087 sales and 8.1% market share, behind just VW and ahead of Opel and Ford!
The Korean brand is #7 year-to-date at 12,647 sales and 5.2% share, up 23%… This huge month is reflected in the models ranking, with the Hyundai i30 very solid at #4 and 2.7% and the Hyundai i20 delivering an exceptional 5th place for its first month within the Austrian Top 20 with 605 sales and 2.3%. The Hyundai i40 is gearing up at #74 with 120 sales, the Santa Fe ranks 88th and the Veloster breaks into the Top 100 for the first time at #99.
Other good performers this month include the VW Tiguan up 13 spots on July to #6, the Citroen C3 Picasso up 40 spots to #17 and the Seat Altea up 9 spots to #25.
