At 1,478,859 registrations, the Brazilian market is up 9% in 2004. No change on top, the VW Gol is number 1 for the 17th year, but sees its gargantuan market share slip down a little bit each year, this time at 12% thanks to 177,111 sales (-2%).
Boosted by the new generation launched this year, the Fiat Palio is back to #2 with 128,218 sales (+7%) and a 8.7% share, followed by the Chevrolet Corsa, up 3% at 125,035 sales (8.5%). The Chevrolet Celta is up a further 7% to reach 122,691 registrations at #4, and the Fiat Uno is down 4% at 92,813 sales (6.3%).
The VW Fox is the success story of the year: for its first full year of sales its reaches an excellent 8th place with 54,428 units and 3.7% of the market. Other great performers include the Ford Ecosport in 10th position (+44%), the Honda Fit at #15 (+96%) and the Chevrolet Montana at #19 (+418%).
